SharePoint 2010 Delete Attachment Bug: customize SharePoint list forms with InfoPath 2010

I just had a major issue with the feature that is used to Customize Infopath Forms for SharePoint 2010 Lists. Microsoft agrees it is a bug and will add it to their bug list. I have confirmed this bug on a brand new SharePoint environment installed with December 2010 CU on it. Follw the steps described below: Step 1) Take an OOTB List and attach files to it. Delete the attached files using the Delete link (as shown in the screenshot below).

Keep trying this a few times. Everything works as expected. Files get attached and deleted correctly.

Step 2) Now, click the Customize Infoth button(as shown in the screenshot below):

Make any minor modification to the form using Infopath such as adding a simple line of Text to it. Then Save anbd Publish the Form.

Step 3) Repeat attaching and deleting files as explained in Step 1). You will notice the Delete link as shown in Step 1) gets replaced by the cross image (as shown in the screenshot below).

Clicking the cross image in order to Delete a file makes a Web Service call, and there is a timing issue that causes the files to not get deleted randomly. If you keep trying sometimes it work and sometimes it does not. I have tried to recreate the issue and within 5 minutes of testing I could recreate it fairly easily.

Update from Microsoft as of 06/25/2012: Microsoft has created a fix for this issue, which will be a part of the June CU. Please see comments from Microsoft below:
"The InfoPath development investigated this issue and decided to create a fix for the issue.   This fix is scheduled to be included in the June 2012 Cumulative Update for Office.  Since cumulative updates are typically released at the end of the month, you should be able to search http://support.microsoft.com for the update at the beginning of July."

Did you find a workaround or fix? I'm currently experiencing the same issue and haven't found a solution - I still need to use the IP 2010 filler forms.

We have an open case with Microsoft on this issue and they have told us they will give us a solution by end of June. Stay tuned and I will blog about it once we have a solution.
